Results August 20th, 2026

Still in the holiday season, but we got 9 players together for four rounds of Peasant. The last tournament worldwide under the old banlist (or the old old banlist, I should say, more on that later), since our organizer decided the ban announcement came too late for people to reasonably change decks. One player opted to give Painter's Studio a final hurray before the deck fades back into obscurity. Or reinvents itself, you never know with Kuldotha Rebirth! Stefan only got 3rd place though, beating Joris on tiebreakers, whose strong Elves deck dropped a game to Melle's reanimator deck. Both lost the tiebreakers to two different flavors of White Weenie though! Congrats to Johan and, in particular, Rutger, for finishing on top with nothing but white (and colorless) cards!

As said, this was the final tournament under the old banlist. However, even though we didn't have another tournament, a new banlist has already been published, all courtesy to WotC's Zeta Secret Lair stunt. This Secret Lair contains randomized boosters, and to make it work, they use different rarities, including Common and Uncommon. In total, a whopping 27 cards got downshifted, prompting the Peasant Committee to take immediate steps, publishing a new banlist. Even though Doomsday and Narcomoeba got banned, I expect a number of other downshifts to heavily impact the format, including, but not limited to, Baleful Strix, Dispatch, and Price of Progress.
