Invitational Tournament Budget Season IV

And when the smoke cleared a storm rose?!

Congratulations to Gijsbert for stealing the trophy from under everyone's nose. Kind of a cool story, since he only heard he could join the invitational two days prior to the tournament day and still 3-0'd both formats (Pauper as well as Peasant was played).

Furthermore we saw during the invitational that a significant number of players picked up the locus lands to render their endgame mana supply neigh infinite! Especially in mirror situations this led to stupid situations: tap a land, gain 8 mana :P

Top8 Decklists 4th Peasant Grand Prix Ingolstadt

More Peasant is more better!

Our good friends in Ingolstadt, Germany, have organized another Peasant tournament on July 21st. With 19 players attending it was once more a smashing success!

When we look at the top 8 we see a highly diverse metagame, with several new renditions of very familiar archetypes, such as MBC, MBA and tortured existence. Additionally, a couple of decks popped up that look really interesting, but which I was unfamiliar with, i.e. Canadian Threshold, Spielplatz mit Rutsche (playground with slide) and (the aptly dubbed) OP Delver is OP. But ultimately, the (in my opinion) often underestimated brute force of those tree-hugging, earth-loving, pointy eared freaks (cookies for the first one to recognize the reference) took home the victory in one gracious swipe of elven steel. Congratulations to Andreas H for appreciating the joy of emptying your hand on turn 2 or 3 and smashing your opponent's face in!

Judgment Day!

#Loving all the positive vibes going on here!

Today is a big day, the final tournament of this year's budget league. We'll be playing three rounds of pauper and three rounds of peasant. This nicely reflects the setup of the past season, where we also played both formats.

I'm going to take a blue delver deck to the pauper rounds and for peasant I'll pick up our 'baby', our precious :P For us this deck tells the story of peasant, that you can create a tier 1 deck in this format by constant tuning, tweaking and testing. Our W/u blinkpost deck once started as W/G/U, then got red added, subsequently had green removed from it, red turned to black, black got removed, blue got tuned down until it was basically a white deck with mulldrifters :P I'm really pumped to play it again today and I hope to post the result with the deck that it deserves!

Decklists will follow suit!
